Cables

If you need specialist CP cables, whether PVC sheathed or HMWPE for direct burial, armoured for suspending anodes or a cable suitable for immersion, Direct CP can supply the cable you need.

PVC insulated copper cored cables are the mainstay of Cathodic Protection installations. These ‘vanilla’ single core cables are usually double insulated and are commonly specified where durability is of less concern.

PVC/Nylon/PVC insulated copper cables are often specified for direct burial where termite damage may be a problem. The incorporation of Nylon into the sheathing system greatly improved water resistance and resists termite attack.

XLPE sheathed cables offer superior immersion performance when compared to traditional PVC cables and can offer an economic alternative to other materials.

HMWPE (High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) sheathed cable is rigid, tough as nails and chemically resistant. It is commonly used as tails on Cathodic Protection anodes.  It is resistant to most organic and inorganic substances and can be used from anode to terminal.

Titanex ® is a proprietary cross-linked synthetic EPR rubber cable insulation usually applied over stranded and flexible copper cable. It is susceptible to abrasion and impact damage so is most often used where its flexibility is a primary advantage, for example as an electrical bond cable between structures such as a wharf and a mooring dolphin.

Kynar ® (PVDF or polyvinylidene fluoride) insulated cables are abrasion resistant and often HMWPE sheathed to provide almost unparalleled resistance to chemicals. They are very tough and consequently can be more difficult to work than PVC insulated cables.  Kynar retains its excellent physical properties in adverse chemical and thermal environments.  The chemical resistance of Kynar makes it appropriate for installation in
corrosive chemical, acidic and extreme temperature environments.
